PASMO PASSPORT

Special IC card with privileges

a convenient IC card that can be used for travel and

  • PASMO types

    Blank PASMO card

    Anyone can use this PASMO.

    * Note that this type cannot be reissued if lost.

    * Note that because this type uses adult fares, it cannot be used by children.

    * Note that this can be used to purchase a blank bus commuter pass.

    The sale of blank PASMO has been temporarily suspended.

    Personalized PASMO card

    Only the person whose name is on the PASMO can use this type. This can be reissued when lost.

    * Note that your name, gender, date of birth and phone number must be registered when purchasing this type.

    * Note that a service fee is charged when reissuing a lost card.

    The sale of Personalized PASMO has been temporarily suspended.

    Child PASMO

    The bearer of this type of PASMO can ride using children's fares. This can be reissued when lost.

    * Note that a new Child PASMO cannot be purchased if you already have another Child PASMO or Child Suica.

    * Note that an official form of identification that confirms the bearer's age must be presented to purchase this type.

    * Note that a service fee is charged when reissuing a lost card.

    Commuter Pass

    This is a Personalized PASMO card that can be used as a commuter pass. Topping up the pass makes it possible to calculate fares simply by touching it to the ticket gate reader when traveling outside the commuter pass route.

    * Note that some commuter pass types and areas may not be available for the Commuter Pass. Talk to the operator for further details when purchasing your pass.

    * Note that bus commuter pass information is not printed on the pass.

    Child PASMO Commuter Pass

    This is a Personalized PASMO card that can be used as a commuter pass for children. Topping up the pass makes it possible to calculate fares simply by touching it to the ticket gate reader when traveling outside the commuter pass route.

    * Note that some commuter pass types and areas may not be available for the Commuter Pass. Talk to the operator for further details when purchasing your pass.

    * Note that bus commuter pass information is not printed on the pass.

    * Note that child fares apply to the stored fare on the pass.

  • How to use PASMO

    Simply touch your PASMO to the reader on the ticket gate to ride the train.

    Simply touch your PASMO to the reader inside the bus to pay the fare.

    PASMO can be used for easy electronic payments so there is no need to count out coins.

  • Topping up PASMO

    How to top up your PASMO PASSPORT at a station ticket machine

    The amount that can be added to your card at one time differs depending on the vendor and machine. Cards cannot be topped up if the balance will exceed ¥20,000. If you accidentally added value to your card, the amount can be refunded with no handling fees only on that day and at the station where it was added, and only if it has not been used after being topped up.

    Topping up on the bus

    On the bus, it can be topped up in denominations of ¥1,000 (¥1,000 bills only). Please talk to the driver. The amount that can be added to your card at one time differs depending on the vendor and machine. On the bus, it is not possible to top up the card if the balance will exceed ¥10,001.

    Topping up at a store

    It is also possible to top up the card at convenience stores and some shops. Please ask at the shop for further details.

  • Procedures

    Reissuing a lost Personalized PASMO card or Commuter Pass

    The Personalized PASMO card and Commuter Pass can be reissued if lost. Visit a nearby station or bus operator office.

    Reissuing a damaged Blank, Personalized PASMO card, or Commuter Pass

    If your PASMO is damaged and can no longer be used, it can be reissued. Visit a nearby station or bus operator office.

    PASMO refunds

    If you no longer need your PASMO, it can be refunded. It is also possible to refund the Commuter Pass cost on its own and switch to a Personalized PASMO card.

    The card must be returned. Stored fare balances cannot be refunded on their own.

    The stored fare balance and deposit of ¥500 will be refunded. If the stored fare balance is ¥0, the deposit of ¥500 will be refunded.

FAQ

Is it possible to transfer my commuter pass and stored fare balance from my Suica to a new PASMO?

Regular PASMO only

No, it is not possible to transfer information from one PASMO to another or from a PASMO to another IC card.

Is it possible to purchase a combined train and bus commuter pass in a single card?

Regular PASMO only

Yes, one type of each train and bus commuter pass can be purchased on a single PASMO. Make sure to talk to the operator to check what area and route can be purchased.

Can I erase the expired commuter pass information printed on my card?

Regular PASMO only

If you no longer need to use your commuter pass, you can ask the staff at a station that handles PASMO cards to erase the printed Commuter Pass information. You can continue to use it as a Personalized PASMO card after the information is erased.

I don't need my Personalized PASMO card anymore. Can I give it to a family member or friend?

Regular PASMO only

Personalized PASMO cards are for use by the bearer only, so the name cannot be changed and they cannot be transferred to another person. Please return your PASMO for a refund in this case.

Can I use my current PASMO as a commuter pass?

Regular PASMO only

Yes, commuter pass information can be written to your current PASMO.

There is no need to purchase a new one. Note that commuter passes cannot be purchased with the stored fare balance on the PASMO.
